The Energy Workers Legal
Resource Center, PLLC is a legal firm with a focus on the representation
of former and current workers at the Oak Ridge Department of Energy
facilities. Our offices are located in the Jackson Plaza Office
Complex at 800 Oak Ridge Turnpike; Suite B-102 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
The Energy Workers Legal Resource Center, PLLC is staffed by attorney
Chris Hayes. Mr. Hayes has practiced law in the Oak Ridge/Knoxville
area since graduating from the University of Tennessee College of
Law with Honors in 1986. He is a former Department of Energy contractor
employee at the K-25 Site and the Y-12 National Security Complex.
His primary areas of practice include workers compensation,
personal injury, products liability, toxic torts and wrongful death
claims. In addition to litigating matters in the Tennessee State
Courts and the United States District Courts, Chris has appellate
experience before the Federal Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, the
Tennessee Court of Appeals and the Tennessee Supreme Court.
Mr. Hayes is a member and past-president of the Anderson County
Bar Association, the American Inns of Court, the Knoxville Bar Association
and Tennessee Bar Association. Mr. Hayes is not certified as a civil
trial specialist by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal
Education and Specialization. Certification in workers compensation
is currently not available by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing
Legal Education and Specialization.
The Oak Ridge, Tennessee Department of Energy Complex is composed
primarily of the Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant (often referred
to as K-25 or the East Tennessee Technology Park); the Oak Ridge
National Laboratory ORNL (often referred to as X-10) and
the Y-12 National Security Complex (often referred to as Y-12).
These DOE facilities have existed since the 1940s and have been
tasked by the United States Government with a number of important
national security missions over the years.
Our office is committed to providing aggressive representation of
our clients an obtaining full and fair compensation for our clients.

compensation programs that are available to Energy Department Contractor
workers. These workers include employees of the prime Department
of Energy Contractors such as Union Carbide, Martin Marietta, Lockheed

and BWXT Y-12. Other Department of Energy Oak Ridge Complex employees
include the numerous construction and other subcontractor workers.
Health conditions involved in these types of cases include asbestosis

caused by toxic work exposures, accident and injuries in the workplace,
gradually occurring work injuries, occupationally induced hearing
